On November 6th, SF campus students who take information literacy course had a field trip to the SF Public Library as part of the information literacy class. OU offers Information Literacy as GE course collaborating with OCLE ESL level 6 program and OU librarian Amy Amenon in 2013 fall quarter.
This course is designed to encourage research skills, critical thinking, and effective writing. In Information Literacy course, students are expected to complete a thesis-centred research essay. As an intensive reading and research seminar, the course will assist students in the development of skills fundamental to advanced research in the humanities, social sciences, and cultural studies. The effort entails identification of research topics, cultivation of interdisciplinary studies and methodologies, compilation of selected bibliographies and analysis of a literature overview.

The purpose is to guide students on how to use local public library and how to use well public resource as a researcher.
