Olivet University -Faculty Shares Experience in Ministry Practice Lecture Series

December 27, 2010

As a part of the lecture series for the Ministry Practice program, three of Olivet University’s Lausanne participants spoke to students about their recent experience at the Third Lausanne Congress on World Evangelization in Cape Town, South Africa.

The session included overview on the historical conferences for Evangelicals, significance of the 2010 conferences, the future direction in the area of missions, and a question and answer session. The panel discussion was held in the Olivet’s San Francisco Chapel which included onsite and online student attendance joining via live broadcasting.

Dr. William Wagner, president of Olivet University and host of the event, opened with a prayer and welcomed the congregation.  The lecture began with Dr. Walker Tzeng giving his perspectives from recent Christian conferences including Tokyo 2010, Lausanne III, and the 2010 Boston conference.  Dr. Tzeng participated in numerous mission conferences and gained valuable insights which he shared with the students.

Dr. Wagner and Dr. Joseph Ray Tallman, Vice President of Olivet University, shared their wisdom in regards to the evolving mission movements, shifting paradigms, and the new direction following the Lausanne Congress.  Students showed active participation by asking thoughtful questions in person and online.

Overall, the session provided a wealth of knowledge and first-hand experience from the Cape Town attendees. The discussion made a fine addition to the Global Link conference held at Olivet University’s campus in late October.
