April 27, 2010

Olivet College of Business (OCB) invited online marketing expert Bryan Feller to speak to students during a three hour workshop.  The workshop was designed to teach students the latest in online marketing and marketing management.

As the internet has continued to shape the way people think and act, organizations are able to market themselves to a global audience. The interactive nature of online marketing provides an instant response which corporations are increasingly using to capture a larger market share.

“Speed makes a difference,” Feller said.  He explained that it only takes 1 day to get marketing result when using the paid internet search engines, compared 4 months when using space ads in traditional media.

Feller also explained how to use the up-to-date SEM (Search Engine Marketing) tools to improve traffic of website and the sales performance.  The workshop also covered the concepts behind Google “keyword” search ads and its uses in online marketing strategies.

“The whole process of online marketing is like science,” Feller said. Feller explained that it includes a process of hypothesis, experiment, collecting data, and obtaining results which may need to be repeated until the right solution is found.
