Olivet University -Olivet Attends 65th Annual ABHE Conference

February 24, 2012

Representatives from Olivet University took part in The Association for Biblical Higher Education's 65th Annual Meeting in Orlando, Florida.  Higher education Presidents, Chief Academic Officers, Recruitment/Admissions, Development and Fundraising, Business Administrators, Board, Trustees and other Senior Leadership convened to develop and create opportunities for taking their institutions to the next level.

This year's annual gathering presented significant milestones including an honorarium for Dr. Randall Bell's service at ABHE.  Dr. Bell served as Director of the Commission on Accreditation since 1998.  Prior to his position as director, he served  as an Executive Director for 16 years.  ABHE has grown under his leadership and the organization designated Dr. Bell as the guest of honor for the evening's banquet.  He was presented with a plaque accompanied by family and friends.

Olivet University's COO Dr. Walker Tzeng was also nominated and selected as ABHE's newest member on the Board of Directors.  Dr. Tzeng had been actively involved in ABHE by serving on evaluation team site visits and conference workshops.

"I want to thank God for this newly appointed membership.  I am humbled and filled with gratitude.  My prayer is to take this opportunity to better serve both ABHE and Olivet University," said Tzeng after being selected for the position.

This year's theme was "Biblical Higher Education and the Global Cause."  ABHE demonstrated its growth by hosting its largest event to date as it drew top plenary speakers including Dr. Tony Evans, founder and president of the Urban Alternative who is heard on over 500 radio stations, and Reverend Samuel Rodriguez, one of America's seven most influential Hispanic Leaders as identified by The Wall Street Journal.  The event was also blessed to have Grammy Award winning artist Laura Story perform and lead worship throughout the conference.

As biblical higher education institutions large and small respond to fresh stirrings of God's spirit, ABHE's leadership, staff, and resources are poised to boost the buoyancy of its growing family of institutions.  By God's gracious provision and enabling, AHBE is ready to ride the Rising Tide!" said Dr. Ralph Enlow, President of ABHE.

Olivet University is an accredited member of the ABHE which includes over 100 accredited institutions across the United States and Canada.  The ABHE will convene its next annual conference on February 13-16, 2013 in Orlando, Florida.
