On Friday, June 11, parents, and members of administration, faculty and governing board, together with students, alumni and the Class of 2010 convened to celebrate Commencement 2010. The ceremony was held in Olivet University Chapel at the University's main campus in downtown San Francisco, California.
The ceremony began with the procession of academic leaders into the University Chapel, followed by a series of warm addresses by faculty representatives celebrating the Class of 2010. University President Dr. William Wagner delivered the ceremony’s welcome and opening remarks and the ceremony also featured a choral devotion from the Jubilee College of Music.
Special Guest Dr. Tony Sargent, Principal Emeritus of International Christian College delivered the commencement address. His message centered upon the passage from Matthew 28:16-20, where Jesus exhorted his disciples to fulfill the Great Commission. He encouraged the Class of 2010 to follow the great promise of God and seek out the amazing potential for mission expansion in the world.
Bachelor and Masters degree recipient of the Class of 2010 approached the stage to receive their diplomas. In addition, Olivet University awarded five Doctor of Ministry degree this year. President Wagner delivered the official pronouncement of their graduation.
Rhoda Tse, Master of Divinity degree recipient from the Class of 2010, was chosen to deliver the student reflection. Ms. Tse reminded his classmates of privilege and responsibilities of being an Olivet University graduate, including the commitment to following God.
The 2 hour ceremony, which was broadcast live to off-campus viewers, included a special video presentation of Olivet University graduates who completed their program of studies online. Guests also enjoyed a video commemorating the recently completed academic year.
Following the ceremony, guests enjoyed a special reception on campus to celebrate the occasion.
