November 02, 2010

South African Theological Seminary (SATS) was the site of a recent visit by Olivet University representatives.  SATS President Reuben van Rensburg hosted OU officials at the SATS campus in Johannesburg, South Africa.  South African Theological Seminary is the premier seminary in Africa, offering theological education through distance education.

During the visit, University officials were able discuss the vision and mission of each of the institutions and to view a demonstration of the SATS educational platform.  Through the meeting, both institutions expressed a desire for further collaboration and partnership, especially in the area of educational technology.

“South African Theological Seminary is doing a marvelous job in training Christian leaders,” Dr. William Wagner, President of Olivet University commented following the visit.  “We share such similar philosophies so I look forward to interacting with them in the future.”

South African Theological Seminary is a fully accredited and registered, distance education institution, which focuses on equipping students for service in their local churches.  Though most of their 3000 students are based in Africa, students from approximately 70 countries are taking their distance education courses.
