The summer break is providing a unique opportunity for students to enhance their learning and develop their skills. One area which is providing a comprehensive opportunity for students is in Olivet University’s Research & Development (R&D) center.
The R&D center is a fully serviced division of the University which provides the technological backbone for all the entire school. In particular, it supports the MyOlivet system, the University websites, and numerous other specialized projects.
During the summer break, students are able to take advantage of the internship opportunities at the R&D Center. The two certification programs currently offered include Web Design and Information Technology (IT). The Web Design program covers basic skills in design such as HTML, CSS, Adobe, and DreamWeaver. The IT programs covers areas of web programming, PHP, MySQL, and server maintenance.
Some students also form research groups with experienced professionals in the R&D department. Students are able to research into emerging fields such as mobile applications, Web 2.0, search engine optimization, and software development.
The program runs through the entire summer and concludes as the school year begins in the Fall. Top students from the program are generally considered for positions in the R&D center upon graduation.
