Olivet University officials are planning to meet top leaders of Kabarak University in June on Kabarak’s campus, located near Nakuru, Kenya, to share vision and discuss partnership opportunities between the two Christian institutions.
Kabarak University’s mission is to “provide a holistic, quality education to youth, equipping them with knowledge, practical skills and Christian moral values necessary for the service of God and humanity…within the context of Biblical Christianity.” Kabarak is nationally chartered to offer undergraduate, graduate, and post-graduate degrees in a range of fields, including theology, information technology, and business.
Chancellor and President of Olivet University Dr. William Wagner will be welcomed at the home campus of Kabarak University, joined by an executive team from Olivet that includes Vice President Dr. Joseph Ray Tallman, and Professor Dr. Tony Sargent, who also holds an adjunct faculty position at Kabarak University. Their meeting with Kabarak leaders will explore the potential for Olivet and Kabarak to create a collaborative partnership working together on various educational projects.
Kabarak University was founded by the former President of the Republic of Kenya and the Chancellor of the Kabarak University, his Excellency Daniel T. Arap Moi. Chancellor Moi is slated to be the latest recipient of an honorary doctorate from Olivet University. He was chosen to receive the award in special recognition for his demonstrated commitment to Christian higher education in Kenya, a key country for Christian mission in Africa.
Olivet’s meeting schedule in Kenya includes an invitation to attend Kabarak University’s commencement ceremony, which coincides with Olivet’s visit.
Update (June 19, 2012): Kabarak University has postponed their graduation until November. Olivet’s visit will be delayed until that time.
